Lance rocks!!

Posted in Sports at 10:12 pm

Wow! Lance Armstrong is absolutely amazing! And the fact that the French hate him so much makes what he’s doing in the Tour that much sweeter.

Unless something major happens, he will win a record 6th consecutive Tour de France this coming Sunday.

Considering his story, what he’s overcome, and the scrutiny he is currently under, makes his accomplishment that much more amazing. Do not forget that he has an incredible supporting cast in his teammates. They are doing a hell of a job protecting him and excelling in the team trials.

Props to you Lance! Well done.

MLB All-Star teams…

Posted in Sports at 2:53 pm

Well, the teams have been selected, except for the Final Vote where the internet community has a say in the last roster spot.

What are your feelings about the lineup possibilities, who shouldn’t have made it, and who got left off.

The Beltran situation blows my mind, but I don’t know that there is an easy solution.

And what about the outfield of 500+ HR hitters…amazing!

NBA Finals…

Posted in Sports at 10:26 pm

So, all you Laker lovers or anyone not giving the Pistons a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the title, did Game #1 change your mind?

Don’t underestimate the East! That “boring” brand of basketball is what shut you down…it’s called DEFENSE.

Now, I know you’ve never seen anything quite like it before. Hell, the Dallas Mavericks have no idea what it is or how to spell it. And Mark Cuban can’t even buy it, it’s that special.

The Lakers may still win, but you gotta give the Pistons and Larry Brown props for not folding under the overwhelming odds.

Early season baseball thoughts…

Posted in Sports at 1:43 pm

Baseball…it’s a long season!

But here are some early thoughts about some of the stuff happening so far:

  • A-Rod : Grippin’ hard right about now. Lost 3 of 4 to Boston and the team in 3rd place at 7-7. He’s gonna feel the NY pressure for awhile.
  • Angels : Bust after all the great off season moves they made. Most analysts were giving the division to them before the season started.
  • D-Train : Dontrell Willis…awesome, dominant, and great for the game!
  • Cincy Reds : decent start considering, but I really like where the Cubs v. Reds rivalry is heading.
  • Other thoughts?

Bye bye monkey…

Way to go Phil! After an 0 for 42 slump in the major events, Phil Mickelson finally won his first…and The Masters at that!

An absolutely wonderful event this year full of stories…Arnie and Jack, Bruce Edwards, and finally Phil Mickelson.

He has handled the pressures of being the most notable to have not won a major and his response after winning…(paraphrasing) “it simply makes it that much sweeter now”.

Indeed Phil. Tip of the cap to you ol’ boy!

NCAA basketball

Posted in Sports at 2:52 am

Wow! Even though it has been frustrating trying to pick the winners this year (most years are for me), this is what it’s all about! I absolutely love college basketball. So many stories. So many upsets and buzzer-beaters. So much passion and effort. Exactly what the NBA lacks most nights.

So who is going to take it all this year?

What team is the biggest surprise?

What a bust…

Posted in Sports at 9:05 pm

Wow…2 posts in 1 day!

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m a Yankee fan. Well news today is that Aaron Boone hurt his knee playing basketball and could be out the ENTIRE season. What a big bust he has turned out to be. Other than the one home run off Wakefield, this guy has been pretty worthless…and now this.

That brings me to my real question. How much control should a team have over one of their investments? I mean, should the Yankees have to pay him a salary this year? I’ve heard of a lot of strange things being written into athletes contracts, but how far is too far? Then again, that is a huge investment to pay these athletes without a safety clause and it truly is a business now days.

Pete’s confession

Posted in Sports at 5:06 pm

So now, after all this time of denying that he ever bet on baseball, Pete Rose is confessing his sins against baseball.

Baseball’s all-time hit leader bet on baseball while he was managing the Reds. However disappointing this may be, we really kinda knew it happened.

What do you think this does for Pete, his standing in the baseball world, in the baseball record books or as a man? Why now, after all these years, give in and admit you bet on baseball Pete?

Whatever you believe, it’s all major publicity for his upcoming book. Was that the motivation for giving in? I guess we’ll find out Pete’s side of the story soon…looks like he has a tv interview sometime this Thursday.

Will baseball, and more importantly, the Commissioner forgive him? Stay tuned…

BCS…what the hell?

Posted in Sports at 3:44 pm

Good point Ed…

LSU is in a bad spot this week because if they lose there is no way they can make into the #2 spot and play for a National Championship. However, if they win, they also hurt their chances of moving up because because they’ll beat Georgia, a team they already beat this year and in doing so, weaken their own strength of schedule.

What the hell is wrong with this picture!?!?
