What a bust…

Posted in Sports at 9:05 pm

Wow…2 posts in 1 day!

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m a Yankee fan. Well news today is that Aaron Boone hurt his knee playing basketball and could be out the ENTIRE season. What a big bust he has turned out to be. Other than the one home run off Wakefield, this guy has been pretty worthless…and now this.

That brings me to my real question. How much control should a team have over one of their investments? I mean, should the Yankees have to pay him a salary this year? I’ve heard of a lot of strange things being written into athletes contracts, but how far is too far? Then again, that is a huge investment to pay these athletes without a safety clause and it truly is a business now days.

How funny you bring up this topic. I just got done reading about it on espn.com. I have to give it up to the Yanks on this one putting that if he hurts himself playing basketball that they only have to pay him an early 30 day termination pay of over $900,000 but not the entire contract. It’s a shame for boone since that is great exercise and probably another sport he loves to play, but I guess those are the chances you take being a professional athlete in this day in age. Better call up the REDS and see who else we can trade ya!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA!

I know it’s a bit late to chime in on this one, but given the rumors circulating today, it seems appropriate. From the sounds of Newsday (from what I gather, a NY magazine, not the nationally known one), you may just have the answer to your problem: A-ROD. Check the article out here. Imagine it…A-Rod and Jeter in the same town – what will J-Lo do??
