Security and PHP

Posted in Computer at 8:39 pm

I have loved PHP since version 3! And now version 5 is truly the real deal. (I wish my hosting company would install the damn thing though!!) But as with any took you have to know how to use it.

Here comes the PHP Security Consortium, a group dedicated to educating the programmers out there on how to securely use PHP to design your Web apps.

From the Library at PHP Sec, there is a link to a great article demonstrating SQL injection hacks by example. Since PHP and *SQL go hand in hand, I thought I’d include this excellent reference as well.

Dynasty?!?!

Props to the Patriots and in my opinion, especially to Bill Belichick. That man makes more out of relative nobodys because he gets them to buy into the system.

It sure has been a good year for the Chowder Heads.

I do think McNabb choked, mostly in the last 3 minutes. There was no management of the clock or any sense of urgency. The Eagles wasted a lot of time.

And as much as I dislike the guy, props to T.O. He came ready to play.

Browser -Specific CSS Hacks

Posted in Link at 7:31 pm

Found a really good article at SitePoint on the basics of Browser-Specific CSS Hacks.

To someone just starting out, hearing about all these hacks might be intimidating and steer you away from using CSS. But, trust me, CSS rocks and there really aren’t that many you need to understand to get a very consistent look no matter what browser your visitors are using.

Johnny Carson dies at age 79

Posted in News at 2:01 am

A legend of late night television, Johnny Carson, died peacefully Sunday morning.

I’ve been described as a “night-owl” and some of my greatest memories of staying up late involve the Tonight Show which of course Johnny hosted for so many years.

His final show was one of the most gracious, dignified broadcasts that I’ve ever witnessed.

Recently it came out that Johnny, who had always favored David Letterman, would occasionally send jokes to Dave to use on his show.

A late night genius who shaped several aspects of modern day show format and content because it worked for Johnny. A lot of people have found out that one thing was missing…the genius of Johnny.

His legacy lives on in his work, but he will surely be missed by friends, family, and fans alike because he was a good, gracious, funny, and brilliant man.

NFL Playoffs

Posted in Sports at 3:21 pm

And so they have begun…the NFL playoffs. I meant to get this out before the weekend along with the corresponding poll.

Some thoughts:
– The Colts are the Pats bitches…again.
– Atlanta is finally getting their props
– Vikings choke again
– Big Ben had some bumps, but still finds a way to win.
– TO who?

Interesting discussion going on here. Online magazine The Edge – the World Question Center asked over 120 scientists, futurists, and other interesting minds the question “What do you believe, even though you can’t prove it?”
